When I left home one morning at the end of May it was clear and sunny, but when I got to the top of Okeford hill the mist was drifting in across the Blackmore Vale, it was as always a lovely view.

There is a large field of Rape at the top of the hill running down the valley towards Turmnworth, I saw this little bird the top of the flowers, it was tricky to see in the bright light but when I got home with it on the computer I saw it was a Dunnock

I walked round the margins of the field near Bonsley Common and the hedge near the Trig point I saw a few Yellowhammers, always a pleasure to see.

As I came back along the main path towards the top of the hill I spotted a small bird in the tree, I realised it was something different but needed to get an image to be able to identify it with help at home. After a few frustrating attempts I managed to get an image and a few people on the UK Bird Identification  Facebook page told me it was a Tree Pipit, a first for me and I don’t think I would have identified it without their help.

A little further on there was a Whitethroat in the Hedgerow.

I had a lovely sunny walk along the edge of the forest but as I headed towards the car park for home there was a complete white out in the valley!
