Buzzard and birds

Most afternoons we do a circuit close to home with our dogs and I’m always looking out for wildlife as I go down the lane and up the field. There is a small flock of Goldfinches feeding in a patch of dried Burdock plants in the river field, they always take me by surprise not noticing them until they fly up in to the trees, small flocks of Long Tailed Tits plus Wrens, Robins, Song Thrushes, Redwings, Blackbirds back in numbers. and the occasional Fieldfare, Little Egret and a Greenfinch. We quite often see a pair of Jays flying over plus others.

We have also spotted a Buzzard half way up the field for a number of days, only about 100yds from home, Usually in a tree or on a fence post far enough away not to be bothered by humans and dogs, he has a favourite tree he likes to perch, people have passed him and not noticed him many times when we’ve been walking there.

I’ve had to search for him as he is well camouflaged. I hadn’t been taking my camera for a few afternoons as the weather has been so dull but on this particular afternoon it was a little brighter, as we were heading up the field we spotted something on the fence post. We slowly made our way up the field and I took some pictures of the Buzzard as I got closer in case he flew off, but he didn’t so I managed to get close for some photographs. Of course he eventually flew up in his tree!
