Late May and early June was enjoyable for me, just walking out into our local lane when I had a spare half hour or so and checking out the path and hedgerows. I’ve seen quite a few different species of Insects including Damselflies, Butterflies, Spiders and others. One of the highlights was probably the tiny little Acorn Weevils, they are only around 5mm in body length with a very long snout just right to bore into nuts, I saw a few under Oak trees in the lane.
I’ve made a gallery of many of the little creatures I saw. I’ve named a few of them but the flies were too many to spend time identifying, perhaps one day!
Unfortunately mid June the lane was cut from side to side so now there are not so many creatures in the lane to see. No Grasshoppers or Crickets as I walk down the lane, I wished they had just cut a narrow path to allow walkers to get through and let some of the small things survive.
