Fontmell Down

Another clear morning on July 14th so I went on the other side of the valley from Okeford Hill to Fontmell Down hoping to see some roosting Butterflies. Tilly and I walked along the edge of the hill on the Dorset Wildlife Trust’s reserve, I stayed at the top as I didn’t fancy the steep climb back! There were a few Linnets about and Meadow Pipits but relatively quiet, but that is the nature of this time of the year after the breeding season.

There were a few Meadow Brown butterflies flying but it was quiet, I was a little disapponted and then I saw a Marbled White still roosting and took a couple of images looking towards the early morning light.

Always a lovely walk as the views are amazing but very little about on that day, perhaps next time.
