Sunrise 08:10 Sunset 16:22 GMT
We woke up to torrential rain this morning, it had been raining for most of the night so it was a soggy walk in the dark with Kim, Lucy decided to stay on her bed, she’s not daft that little dog! I notice that sunrise is getting earlier by 2 minutes today, the same as the shortest day so it should improve day by day now if a little slowly.
The sun came out just before dinner time so I decided that a trip to Wyke Down for the end of the day with a couple of friends, hoping to see the Short Eared Owls and take some pictures. The disadvantage of the winter sun is that it is low and makes taking pictures a little difficult and then as soon as it disappears behind the hills the light soon goes.
Shortly after we got there we spotted a couple of Owls hunting, there were around five flying at times. I managed to get a few pictures but I need to get closer. I will keep trying, I think if I move to a different spot and hopefully they may fly across where I am, I can just keep practicing. Having said that I enjoy just watching them it is not just about the photographs.

When I was taking the dogs out I have been noticing a Kestrel flying around the lane just behind our house. I am going to keep my eyes open and my camera ready!
