Sunrise 06.44 Sunset 19.22
A lovely morning and I soon found out how chilly it was, I noticed my outside thermometer showing 3°C the chilliest so far this autumn. But it was a lovely sunrise and a red sky, shepherd’s warning perhaps?! Any way I crossed over the meadow and the footbridge over the Stour and by the time I got to Bere Marsh I noticed there was frost on the grass, the first of the season. It seems to come in around dawn along with the mist.

I walked down to Hayward’s bridge trying to be quiet and as usual it was “busy” lots of Mallards and a Little Egret which soon flew of when it spotted us and a couple of swans. I tried to capture the egret but it was too quick and the light wasn’t particularly good.

When I got home I noticed many Swallows and Martins flying around the field at the bottom of the garden, feeding and socialising on the telegraph wires. They knew the weather was changing and I’m sure they will all soon be gone. Indeed by lunch time the rain had come in for the afternoon and the evening with high winds. I just hope it was helping the birds across the channel.
