A really mixed week with very warm sunshine (for September) at times and foggy in the mornings with a little rain during the day.
We have been watching Swallows and Martins departing for most of the week. We look out the window and suddenly they are there flying high towards the coast in their hundreds although at the end of this week there are still a few flying about.
I’ve started my autumn clear up of the garden although I’m not cutting too much back and leaving vegetation for the wildlife over winter. The hedgehog is still visiting, I hope he makes it through the winter. I’ve seen a few ladybirds today and I put them down on the stinging nettles at the bottom of the garden, I always keep a patch after seeing lots of larvae on them one year during the summer.
I managed to get a picture of this House Sparrow, they are usually too busy for me to take a picture. We have a small flock in our street and they appear to be doing well.
