We have to take any chance with the weather to get out and about with the camera so on Tuesday morning when the weather showed a little promise we took a trip to Radipole lake, Weymouth hoping to see some wildlife. When we got there we found that the North Hide was closed because of floods but we had access to the rest of the reed beds. There is always plenty of life in the reed beds and scrub, lots of small birds like Long Tailed Tits, Goldfinches, Dunnocks, Blue and Great tits, Robins to name a few and some we are not sure of. We really must swat up on our bird names!
The Cygnet below looked a bit lost on it’s own, I don’t know if mum and dad had sent him out on his own.

The Coots were thinking it’s spring and there was a lot of fighting going on.

We spotted a Little Grebe near the bridge at the entrance he is very nervous and doesn’t come too close but he went under the bridge into the reeds.

We saw a few Herons about the one below was on the path as we walked around, soon flying off when we got near.

The single Hooded Merganser was with the Ducks by the bridge at the entrance, he always looks very lonely being the only one!

We always see these white Ducks when we come to Radipole they are always together as a gang.

Unfortunately we didn’t spot any Bearded Tits but Rod spotted the Marsh Harrier in the distance, a pleasant morning although though the light changed with the cloud.
