Just when I was looking forward to spring we get some really harsh weather. I had some Geranium seedlings and Antirrhinums in the greenhouse under a propagator but the weather has turned so cold I have put them in the Conservatory until it warms up again!
The weather forecasters had been warning us all week of this weather and most of the rest of the country had snow, but here in North Dorset it was just freezing, although on Tuesday 27th there was snow as far as Blandford but none in the Blackmore Vale.
On Wednesday morning the sky looked sort of promising so I decided I would walk up Hambledon Hill. This was because of the heavy frost, -4C at home, it was good walking after all the mud, as long as the ground wasn’t too rough; then it was ankle twisting!
I’m having to get out much earlier now as the Sunrise is around 6.50am.
I walked round the front of the hill and climbed up the Iwerne Minster side of the hill, I could see a glimpse of the sun and it was very red, I took an image as it rose a little more. It’s a shame the camera doesn’t show the redness of the sun as I saw it.
As I got to the top the sun cast a beautiful red light over the hillside, the grass looks very burnt with the cold. It was chilly at the top as it was quite windy, but I’m so glad I went up there, every time I do the hill and the Vale looks different, I never get fed up of the spectacular hill and views.
