The evening I got back from Stourhead I was off again, a friend wanted to go down to RSPB Arne for the evening. It was a very hot day but we got to Arne around 6pm and walking under the trees was quite pleasant. We weren’t going to be disappointed with the wildlife we saw on our walk around the reserve.

The last time we went on a morning visit in May had been quiet, but this trip was so much better. It wasn’t until we got to the hide a Shipstal when we saw Sika deer on the marshes. They were grazing fairly close so we could take some pictures. The deer were backlit by the evening sun. The Sika stag above was unexpected , we were looking at the deer on the marshes and turned round and this Stag was looking at us, he let us take a few pictures before wandering away, we were very lucky!

We wandered round the pathways and had quite a few sightings of various birds.

As we got to the large field before returning to the car park there were a large number of deer in the field, we were able to spend some time watching and taking photos in the last of the evening light until they moved on across the field.
