Grey but interesting!

Since we had a lovely morning earlier in the week on Wednesday 3rd April we have had grey mornings, with rain at times and quite cold. The weather is starting to warm up, but the views are still very hazy. With the clock change I am out before dawn again so the light is not so good, but there are still plenty of interesting things to see.

Even if the skies are grey it doesn’t matter, if you keep your eyes peeled there is a lot of action. So many times I try and take images of the small birds in the hedgerows but they are too quick for me, still I’ll keep trying.

A walk up Melways Lane was interesting, more Lambs are appearing in the fields but I was interested to see the sheep and lamb in their own enclosure, the mum had obviously lost her lamb/s and the lamb by her side was orphaned and the shepherd has taken the dead lambs skin and wrapped it around the orphaned lamb to try and get the mum to accept it as her own, it seems to have worked as they appeared to be bonding.

A walk up Chisel Farm and I spotted the cattle in the field, I do love the White Parks with their lovely faces.

There was a little bird making a lot of noise in the bushes under Hambledon Hill, I managed to get a glimpse and realised that it was a Chiffchaff by it’s call.

The Greater Spotted Woodpeckers are very busy at the moment, there are quite a few around the village. I often hear Green Woodpeckers shouting but I don’t very often see them. There are at least four Jay’s down Greenway lane close to home, of course I don’t have my camera in the afternoons when we see them when we are walking the dogs; I have to concentrate on Mia the pup at the moment so carrying a big lens is not an option!

Just a male Blackbird sitting on a fence, there are certainly plenty of them around and about squabbling and nesting and feeding young.
