I had to go to Stalbridge for a hair trim on the 18th July in the late afternoon, my first since February, just before the lockdown. I thought on the way back it was a good chance to do a little detour and have a short walk round Alners Gorse to check out what was about. Like many of the summer days this year it was quite warm. I was a little disappointed as there was not much about that afternoon, but it was nice just having a wander and the wildflowers are always lovely.
I saw only a couple of Silver Washed Fritillaries and a few other species.

There are a few Labyrinth Spiders at Alner’s Gorse and I photographed the rear end of this one below only to find when I got home it was eating a Meadow Grasshopper!
