The weather hasn’t been to special since the New Year when we had the lovely frosty sunrises or I haven’t been able to get out and about when there has been some decent light, so when the sun shone on Sunday 17th January I decided to take a local walk round the lanes just to see what was about. It was and is still very muddy underfoot making it hard going at times but worth it.
I’m still practicing my bird photography, using my new 100-400mm Zoom lens and just enjoying seeing what was about.
I headed down Greenway Lane close to home there are quite a few Blue Tits and Great Tits about in small flocks.

I walked along to Netmead field and there were Reed Buntings and Yellowhammers there as before.
Reed Buntings

I was pleased to see a pair of Stonechats near Netmead Lane, they were a little quick for me, I spotted the colourful male first but he soon disappeared but I was able to get a couple of pictures to allow me to positively identify them.

There were a few Redwings and Fieldfares together plus a Song Thrush, I’ve been seeing them quite a lot lately.

Besides the birds in the images I also saw a Heron, Bullfinch, Great Tit, Greater Spotted Woodpeckers who are busy tapping away, Wrens and others, a nice couple of hours.
