Floods near Mill Ham island

On the 22nd January the floods were still well up and it was a lovely morning so I took a walk down towards the river when it was light to see what was about. There were lovely reflections in the flood water especially from the Willow branches, a lovely gold in the sun.

I could only get a little way into Netmead field it was still flooded to the back, I just spotted a Yellowhammer high in a tree.

I saw a few birds about although it is quite difficult when I’m on the move they are too quick to spot a human! I’ve decided I need to be more sophisticated with my bird photography finding a spot with camouflage or a pop up hide so they are not so aware of me. The Jays are particularly timid and the Redwings and Fieldfares.

I see quite a few Wrens on my walk but they are always on the move and in the hedgerows, I was lucky enough to spot the one below singing away and in the open, lovely little birds. The Long Tailed Tits are the same always so busy!

I went to the place where I have seen a single Fieldfare a number of times hoping to get a good image, I was a bit luckier this time although I could do with him being closer!
