Bere Marsh to Hammoon

An early morning walk on 22nd May along the North Dorset Trailway from Bere Marsh Farm, Shillingstone to the Hammoon road and back. It had stopped raining for a while but everywhere was very wet underfoot so I thought I wouldn’t get muddy or wet for a change! I was being a little lazy by driving down to the Trailway car park but again I wanted to keep dry. As I drove across the bridge I spotted two Roe females in the meadow close to the road, by the time I was out of the car they had moved towards the farm.

The small birds were around but mostly undercover I could hear them but not see them, but if I did it was very fleeting, except of course the Robin, always reliable for a picture.

They were grazing a small flock of sheep by the Trailway near the farm, some very cute lambs!

As I got towards the Hammoon road I was attempting to take a picture of a Chiffchaff when I heard the familiar sound of Swans in flight, I backed off the lens and was lucky to see and take a V formation of seven Swans, quite a sight. Also near there were quite a few House Martins and a number of Swifts flying above which were a pleasant sight, my first of the season.

On the way back just near the Hammoon road in the field there were another pair of Roe deer, a female and young male, they watched as I walked along the Trailway but stayed there all the time as I went a long.

A Wren in the trees making a lot of sound, always a pleasure to see and hear.

A pleasant mornings walk with Tilly and we both had dry feet when we got home!
