On the 16th June I went up to Fontmell Down in the morning, it promised to be a hot day but I was pleased that there was a little cloud cover which cooled things on the open downs. I went with a friend who was hoping for tips on how I took my pictures of Butterflies and flowers and what camera equipment I used.
Because it was hot the Butterflies were pretty active, but in time we got our eyes in and soon spotted them when they landed. We had a good morning although there wasn’t too much of a variety of Butterflies about. The highlight were the Dark Green Fritillaries and there were quite a few and in pristine condition.

The flowers were in abundance now and it was good to see a few different Orchids, Bob is knowledgable on the different Orchid species so it was a good morning sharing knowledge and exploring Fontmell Down.
