The morning of Monday 5th July was dry for a change, our weather hasn’t been too good of late and it’s been very wet to walk anywhere, the paths are wet and the hay hasn’t been cut as yet, not that I mind as it is home for the wildflowers and the insects at the moment. I decided to head for Bere Marsh for a change I hadn’t ventured that way for a while.
I was really pleased I did, although there wasn’t too much to see on the Trailway, there were lots of birds singing but not showing themselves. As I headed back I was nearly to the farm when a Barn Owl flew out of the old barn by the pond, it gave me such a surprise and great for me as he landed on a fence post near the barn and stayed there for a short while so I could take some photos! Soon he was off and disappeared across the fields, I waited for a while but I decided that he wasn’t coming back so I headed for home. I just got past the farm when I spotted the Owl heading straight for me, he didn’t give me much time to think but I managed to take a few pictures as he did a fly past, one of my special mornings, I went home smiling!
