A friend asked me if I would show her some Hares recently, as she doesn’t see them where she lives, so we met early on Sunday 27th February and I went to my favourite Hare spotting sites, I was hoping we would see some!
We did! Although they were a little distant we walked the road looking through the bare hedges and were unaware we were there. As I we looked around the field there were many Hares in pairs just side by side I suppose they had paired up. I was hoping we might have seen a bit of boxing but I think it was too cold for that, the wind was whipping across the top of the hills and they were keeping low much of the time.
We went to my other favourite spot but unfortunately a couple of walkers with a dog went up the path and if there had been anything there I’m sure they would have disappeared, we did walk up there but it was very quiet. We did see a pair of Nuthatches as we came back to the car.
We had a little tour round stopping off at Win Green but it was very quiet there no birds about, it was no wonder as it was very cold, I think they may have been keeping low in the hedgerows.
On the way home when we were in the valley we spotted a bird on a fence post, we thought it was a Buzzard. I found somewhere to stop and watched as the bird took off it was a Red Kite. So we managed to see some wildlife even on a very cold morning!

Wonderful time shared, Marilyn… until the next time. Ange
Superb hare sightings, Marilyn. Is that Fontmell down?
I don’t say the exact location for obvious reasons, but not too far away.
