Netmead walk

A frosty morning on February 26th with clear blue skies , I headed around the footpaths of the village  on my early morning walk with Tilly. I walked towards Netmead and spotted a Grey Heron in the wet field he stayed there for some time until the Roe deer ran towards him and then he disappeared over towards the river.

The Roe deer were very much in evidence, there were five in Netmead field and weren’t too bothered about me or Tilly as we walked the path, I did have Tilly on the lead just in case she took chase!

It was fairly quiet for birds but I was lucky to see a handsome male Reed Bunting on top of the hedge and some Blue Tits squabbling and a Dunnock again in the hedge.

When I walked to the top of Netmead lane and into what I call Apple tree walk I spotted one male Stonechat and one Meadow Pipit I hadn’t seen them since there had been fencing going on a couple of weeks ago, great to spot them again.
