Okeford Hill has become one of my favourite places at the moment, and we are now in the middle of August. I have been lucky to see plenty of birds when I go up there early in the morning, with Tilly, so a good place to check out. I know I’m probably going to see the usual birds but I still enjoy seeing and photographing them.
The wildlife margins are very welcome to the wildlife and with the added patches of wildflowers in the large fields it can only be good news particularly for the bird population. The Sunflowers were in full bloom looking beautiful in the early morning sun.

I spotted a Roe deer in the crops she was heading for the Sunflowers, I was hoping for an image in the Sunflowers, I had to make do in the old bean crop, once she got in the Sunflowers they were just too tall and she disappeared!

The Stonechats were really active with plenty of juveniles though it’s starting to get more difficult to tell the difference, they are very accommodating and sit high on the bushes or on posts, one of my favourites.

I was lucky to see a Willow Warbler very close in a bush, looking in good condition ready for his migration.

Of course there were Yellowhammers, Small Goldfinch flocks, a Whitethroat and Linnets, the male Linnets are sporting a lovely red front at the moment, unmissable.

Another special morning in this dry weather!
