Most of the crops have now been gathered in towards the middle of August and I’ve been hoping I might see Hares about on my early morning walks. I wasn’t sure if I would be lucky as the fields were so parched and I was thinking there wouldn’t be much in the way of vegetation for them to eat.
But I was lucky one morning heading to Hambledon hill I saw one close to the village in the grass field, but he didn’t stay around as he must have caught our scent and disappeared into the hedgerow.
The second time was when I went towards Fontmell down, it didn’t look too promising the fields where I usually see them were very quiet, mainly arable with the Barley harvested then I spotted just one Hare hunkered down fairly close to me I managed to get some pictures but never saw any more.
I went over to Fontmell down for a walk with Tilly, it was very quiet and no sign of any Butterflies or the Autumn Tresses Orchids I was hoping to see, maybe I was a little early so I will pop back again soon.
