Easter Monday, 6th April

Sunrise 06:35 Sunset 19:49 BST

It was very foggy this morning in the Stour valley so I walked up to New Cross to see if I could get above the fog, although it was not to be. The sun was showing through the fog but it was going to take a while to burn through.

I couldn’t see very far and it was mostly the small birds I could see or hear but I was really excited to see something I hadn’t seen for years on top of a hedge at the edge of the Hammoon road and that was a Yellowhammer, a bird that is on the Red Status list because of it’s decline in population in the UK.

I grabbed a quick photo for the record and was just going to move nearer as the one i had took was a little under exposed when a long came a cyclist with a cheery ‘Hello’ and of course the bird flew off… GRRR!
