Well April is coming to a close and I haven’t had time to write up my diary, so much to do and not enough time! Spring of course hasn’t waited and the changes in the last month are very noticeable, every thing is growing and soon the farmers will be cutting the grass. Our weather has been very changeable, we had a lovely warm spell and then back into winter with hard frosts, grey skies and cold winds at times, although the rain levels have been low for the time of year.
The Swallows are well back now and are busy repairing and finding new nests at Bere Marsh Farm. The only thing missing is the Cuckoo, he has been heard at Hammoon but not close to home. I do hope we hear one. There are plenty of Cuckoo Flowers out in the meadows though.
The birds have been active nest building and I’ve tried to take pictures when I have been out and about in the mornings.
