I am going out for a walk just before dusk down to see if I can spot the Barn Owl hunting. He is very busy feeding the young Owlets in the barn. I have heard them as I pass by, they must be growing now. I didn’t see him last evening, I am not too worried as I am not always lucky to spot him over the meadows, sometimes he doesn’t come out until nearly or when it’s dark.
I spent my time watching the Swallows skimming the cut hay meadows for flies, the young are now out flying, testing their wings. I attempted to get an image as they passed by. I did manage to get one fairly clear using a fast shutter speed.

I nearly always see Pied Wagtails around the farm and I was also watching them in the field.

I watched them as they hovered over the grass and I took a couple of pictures and when I looked at them at home I realised they were catching flies, quite little acrobats!

This morning I saw a Pied wagtail fledgling by the farm, there were a number of them about. As I walked up the trailway I also spotted a pair of Bullfinches with a family who followed them from branch to branch, good news.

I was hoping to see some Roe deer, they find plenty of undergrowth to hide in this time of year. I walked up New Cross and I spotted one in the next field. I crept as quietly as I could up the other side of the hedge with the dogs, but the deer must have seen me and I just managed a quick shot as they disappeared over the field, a buck and doe. As I was walking home we disturbed one in our lane and he ran towards the village, I was a little worried what it would do but he came back and crossed the field into the wood on the opposite side.
