Saturday 15th March

Sunrise 06.24 Sunset 08.13 GMT

Thursday and Friday were very foggy in the valley but it cleared by Friday evening and Saturday turned into a lovely day.

There is certainly lots to see in the mornings, there is a Blackbird sitting on my Hazel singing for quite some time in the morning and evening, he seems to have usurped the Dunnock although he is still around. It is a lovely sound and I can hear him even before I get out of bed. Thursday and Friday I had to keep Kim on the lead the fog was so thick. It was good job I did as we got very close to a Roe deer in the bottom field, it disappeared towards Millham island. A Little  Egret was in the field just over the footbridge and I was surprised he didn’t fly away they are quite nervous normally.

On Friday we were walking down the lane and two Bullfinches flew in front of us for a while from bush to bush, it was nice to see them again.

All the small birds are very busy pairing up and nest building, this morning there was a female Blackbird down in the bottom field with a load of dry grass in her beak. The Greater Spotted Woodpeckers are about and I’m looking where they may be nesting this year, no signs yet.
