We haven’t had much rain for quite a while and at last Friday into Saturday 8th June we had a good downpour, which I welcomed for my garden as I’m sure the farmer’s and other gardeners will reiterate.

So on the morning after the rain I thought I would go for the easy option and walk along the Trailway to Hammoon, otherwise at this time of the year I can suffer from rising damp in the legs from all the foliage along some of the paths!

I took my new camera, an Olympus OMD E-M1 Mark ii with a 300mm lens and a 1.4 converter and because the camera is Micro 4/3 it gets me closer to the wildlife than a full frame camera. I was hoping to see lots of birds along the path.

The birds were there, but in the undergrowth singing and I was beginning to think I wasn’t going to see much. But it wasn’t so bad, a glimpse of a Barn Owl wing in the barn, Goldfinches, Skylarks a Kestrel, Wrens and many more birds and as I got to the road to Hammoon I crossed over and there is a lot of scrubby bushes I started to see the birds and that continued as I walked back towards Bere Marsh.

I spent a lovely time as I wandered back although sometimes frustrating as the birds hid behind the foliage, but I managed managed to photograph a few, plus some of Bees I’m amazed at the stabilisation in my new camera and lens as the wind was blowing quite strongly.
