It’s been a busy couple of days on my walks and at home, sometimes frustrating and then exciting, for me any way!

On the 20th June in the morning I went for an early morning walk on Okeford Hill hoping to see some wildlife which was the frustrating part, so many near misses, a wing of a Buzzard as he glided through the trees a Roe deer who spotted us and disappeared before I could raise my camera,  a Jay crossing the path again too quick for me and so many birds in the undergrowth heard but not seen.

It seems I can always rely on the Yellowhammers putting in an appearance whether I’m on Okeford, Hambledon, Hod or the Trailway there is always one that poses nicely! The sheep was also and easy catch, not much speed there!

There were a couple of Coal Tit fledglings in the trees, I didn’t manage to get a picture of the white flash on top of their heads that identifies them.

Just as I was going back to the Car park there was a Blackcap in the hedgerow.

For the rest of the week I had a good mooch around, one way, then the other way and up over Hambledon Hill! So pleased to see two Hares in different places on my walks and I’m still hoping for a clear close up image, but being near the village they are very wary and you have to be quiet and very quick!

When I was up on Hambledon Hill I saw a Buzzard being chased  by Ravens some distance below me, he didn’t stay long, I think they were a match for him, as they are big birds.

Of course there was the statutory Yellowhammer a beautiful yellow male I couldn’t resist a picture of him!

I was so pleased to spot a family of Stonechats under Hambledon Hill near Shroton Brake in the wheat field, I heard them first with their distinctive call like two stones being knocked together.  I spent some time watching them a little distance away from me.

I was walking round the base in the trees towards Markstone Cottages and I spotted the Roe doe lying in the field, of course she spotted us and moved on but not too far away.
