I always enjoy the insect life during the summer months. I can just walk out the door and into the lane and there is so much to see. The only ones I don’t enjoy are the Horseflies who like to take a nibble you don’t feel them until they have bitten you!
Anyway when we walk down the lane with the dogs I have my camera ready usually with my 300mm f4 lens which allows me to be at a distance. It takes a while but you have to get your eye in to the movement and watching where the creatures land. I do try and identify them when I get home, not always getting it right but I’m learning slowly.
Most of the pictures were taken a few 100 yards from home in early July when the flowers in the hedgerows were at their best.
