The Butterflies around home have been quite sparse this year, I have the flowers but only a few visitors. The only butterfly I have seen in numbers is the Meadow Brown, they have been everywhere and as you walk so many fly up in front of you!
But as always I’m carrying my camera and try and capture as many different butterflies I see. Besides the images below I have seen a Brimstone, Peacock, Speckled Wood, quite a few large and small Whites and the pretty little Gatekeeper Butterflies are appearing now alongside Ringlets.
It was lovely to see the Marble Whites on the edge of Hambledon Hill, I spent a little time on my early morning walk sitting in the grass trying to get pictures of them in flight, not easy as they don’t go in a straight line and are very fast but I managed to get a couple of acceptable ones and it was a bit of fun!

The Butterflies below are all taken close to home down Greenway Lane which is very sheltered and warm on a sunny day.
