Melways

The last day of March and still the weather holds fine, another walk up Melways Lane this time with my longer lens so I could do a little Bird spotting. It’s a nice quiet walk early in the morning and it is very rare that I see anyone. At the end of the lane by Chisel Farm the field is now filling up with Mum’s and calves. This youngster wasn’t very old. I’m not sure of the breed but they have probably got Aberdeen Angus in their line.

I love the sheep with the floppy ears below, there is a group of them separate from the main flocks in with some Black sheep, which maybe Black Mountain sheep (but I could be wrong). I wonder if the floppy eared sheep are a special breed I will have to ask the shepherd if I get a chance.

There were various birds around, many I missed as usual. Plenty of Green and Greater Spotted woodpeckers but I’m not having much luck in seeing them, only hearing them. I generally keep on the move while we are on lockdown, no time to stop and stare!

Just a few of the birds I spotted on my walk below.
