After the hot weather we had some rain, I did see some lightning but it didn’t come to much. everything looks fresher and the birds appeared to be busier than ever. There are quite a number of Greater Spotted woodpeckers about I either hear them or see them in the trees or flying. I haven’t found a nest this year which is disappointing, I was hoping they would come back to the hole in the Poplar tree in the spinney.

A fox has been in evidence around the lane and in the fields close to home, it seems very busy. I’ve seen it twice in the fields at dusk and three times now in the lane near home and I know some of my friends have also spotted it. There are lots of rabbits in the fields and I think he/she may be feeding young.

I’ve put in an archive picture below from a couple of years ago. I managed to take a photo one misty morning in the lane. I haven’t been lucky enough this year yet.
