The beautiful early May sunshine and the warmth has meant that the Mayflies are out in abundance down Greenway lane, close to home. I’m noticing Damselflies are also there and in the little sheltered Spinney at the bottom of the lane down by the river Stour. We walked down with the dogs one afternoon and I spent a short time taking a few images. I spotted three species Large Red Damsels, Beautiful Demoiselles and Banded Demioselles.

As we walked up the lane there was a bee on a Vetch flower, I took a picture and it was identified as a Common Carder bee. I’m trying to learn some names instead of just saying a bee, there are so many species and we are so lucky to be able to access people who know them well and are willing to share their expertise on Facebook.
