Heading towards the end of July already, I can’t believe it, we had heavy rain yesterday this has been welcome to the garden, the landscape and wildlife.
This morning on Sunday 26th July after the rain I decided to head up to the slopes of Hambledon Hill. I have in mind to find early morning butterfly roosts as I’d love to take some dew covered (or rain covered!) pictures of them. Not to be, I wasn’t sure of the best places to look and probably I need to go up in the day and see where the pockets of butterflies are.
Never mind the flowers on the hill are lovely with such a variety and there is always somethings to see, the Burnet Moth was active and a Bee on the Field Scabious.
As I was coming down the bridleway above Markstone cottages I saw a Raven sat on the fence post then in the scrubby shrubs on the way down, a Yellowhammer and a pair of Stonechats. There were as always plenty of Skylarks about but not singing this morning.
