Sunrise O4.56 Sunset 21.27 BST
I was on my usual morning walk thinking how quiet it was when I spotted something flying across the river, it was white and looked quite large, a Egret perhaps or the Barn Owl! I soon realised it was the Barn Owl so I quickly walked across the river to see if I could spot it again. I did but it was still a long way off. I walked onto the trailway towards it’s home and I saw it back over the river where I had just come! Anyway I stood around for a while hoping it would come towards me and I was just walking away to go home when he appeared over the gate! I quickly lifted my camera and took a series of pictures. I didn’t have time to check if they were OK because he soon spotted us and disappeared into a tree. I decided to move on because I didn’t want to worry him.
When I got home I was pleased to see I had a couple of relatively good pictures, the best I have ever got of a wild Barn Owl. I had the camera set at 1000 ISO as it was so early in the morning and the light wasn’t that good then, so they came out a little noisy but I’m happy with that. It was lucky I had my camera ready for shooting.
