Still the hot weather continues, for the last couple of days it’s been unbearable especially at nights trying to get some sleep. There was threat of rain today, I heard they had it in Poole, but none here. Things are getting very dry.

Because of the heat we have started to go out very late in the evening just as it’s getting dark. It’s an interesting time to go out as the nocturnal animals are staring to come out. Last night we were talking to a neighbour in our street, it was half light and we spotted a Hedgehog shuffling across the road, then another as we walked down the road a little later, it went under a gate at quite a speed! We know they visit our garden but usually we are too busy sleeping!

This morning I was watching wildlife before I’d even got time to put my clothes on! Around 5.30 I could hear a Green woodpecker with it’s distinctive call out the front of our house, I got up to have a look and I spotted two on the grass and realised it was an adult and baby, although the baby looked fully grown. The adult was feeding the baby and they stayed for a while until a Crow came along and chased them away. I managed to grab my camera and took a picture through the window of them both.
