Wednesday 17th September

Sunrise 06:53 Sunset 19:11 BST

Still the warm dry weather continues it’s good for me clearing the garden, it’s going to come hard once the weather changes. The only difference now is it’s getting darker in the morning when I take the dogs out and tonight it was getting dark at 7.00pm as the sky was very grey. We haven’t had much rain from the beginning of September and things are drying up now.

It’s been quiet on my walks although I spot a few birds etc. every time I go out. There are still a few Swallows around they seem to appear on electric wires for a little while and then move on. There are also a few House Martins who stop off for a little while.

I also spotted something I’ve never seen on our part of the river before a Red Veined Darter Dragonfly, it may be I haven’t noticed them before!

We had to go into Blandford the other day so we had a look along the meadows, again it was very quiet and the river was running very low. We caught sight of a couple of Kingfishers zooming down the length of the river, swans and ducks and of course seagulls. In the middle of the meadow there was a Rabbit happily munching away even with all the dogs about, I would think he stayed close to his burrow.

There were few fish in the shallows of the river some fairly big in size, they were quite hard to spot in the weed until they moved slightly as they blended with the weed and gravel.
