I met up with my friend from schooldays (that was a long time ago!) in the afternoon so we could go for a walk, it turned out to be a lovely afternoon and we decided that a walk up Hambledon Hill would be good. For a change we decided to try a different route and went up from near the Hod Hill car park at Keeper’s cottage which would take us behind the Yew wood along the Wessex Ridgeway and then onto Hambledon Hill. We went into the back of the Yew wood for a peak at some of the trees which date back to medieval times. I took a picture under the canopy and had to up the ISO to 1600 to get enough light in the camera with my 70-300mm lens. I would like to go back again with perhaps a wide angle lens and explore some more.

Unfortunately we didn’t get much further. I’d just managed to pick some field mushrooms near the Ridgeway path when my friend’s dog decided to chase pheasants and then she lost her bearings and we watched her disappear down the hill towards Shroton. To cut a long story short we spent a good hour trying to find her. My friend found her later in the day in the playing fields in Shroton after driving around to look for her. So we didn’t complete the walk. I’ve promised myself to complete it again soon.
