Last night was very wet, I could hear the rain pounding the windows for most of the night and it’s quite chilly now, not the balmy weather we have been used to. I had to get up a little earlier this morning and take Kim and Lucy out, luckily by then it had stopped raining. It was just getting light at 6.30 this morning and we went our usual route towards Shillingstone and Bere Marsh Farm. As we crossed over the bridge I spotted two Barn Owls hunting together, this is a first for me to see two! They were probably hunting ‘late’ as they don’t like flying in the rain. I was so pleased to see one let alone two, one dived in the grass after a Vole or something and then they disappeared back to the barn.

On the way back I spotted a deer in the field by Mill Ham island, it’s the first time I’ve seen them as close to the village for sometime. I managed to put leads on the dogs before they spotted it. I will have to keep my eyes peeled on my walks from now on!
