The river did burst it’s banks yesterday afternoon so this morning I decided to drive down to Hayward’s bridge with the dogs as I thought I wouldn’t be able to get across the river again. The river had gone down but it was still well over the fields so we walked up the trailway and back, at least the dogs kept relatively clean!

I just managed to watch the sunrise it only lasted a few minutes, it was very red a sure sign of more rain.

As we walked up the trailway I noticed four Cormorants flying along the river and also seven Egrets flew across. I have also spotted a couple of flocks of Fieldfares in the hedgerows, a sure sign of winter.

The drains seem to be doing their job getting the water down to the river, although they won’t stop flooding if we get a excess of rain this year but it must help.

The little pond they cleared out earlier in the autumn is now nicely full so hopefully it will provide a home for the wildlife.
