Winter has arrived, we have had freezing temperatures for the last few nights but the days have been clear and sunny. we had fog during the night and when I took the dogs out this morning the fog had lifted but all the vegetation was coated in a hoar frost and although it was still fairly dark I could see how beautiful it would be when the sun came up.

No chance to take some local pictures as we had to get down to Poole hospital as usual although we could enjoy the scenery on the way down, we also noticed at least three Buzzards in different places in the trees by the edge of the road, they were all fluffed up to keep out the cold, they didn’t look too inclined to get on with hunting.

We had our usual walk round Poole Park before going to the hospital. I am beginning to recognise some of the water birds and it gives me chance to practice with my camera, I’m still trying to get to grips with the focussing and things but hopefully taking pictures in the park will give me practice.

This afternoon I took Kim and Lucy for a walk, it was still sunny and felt quite warm. There are plenty of people around during this holiday week but we managed to avoid most of them. As we were walking up the field towards home around 3.45 I spotted a large Fox in the field close to where we were, it was quiet by then. He was foraging about in the field until he spotted us and then disappeared in the hedge. I didn’t have my camera which I was cross about but we may see it again, he is in the field where we watched the cubs in the summer, the Fox may have a den nearby.
