Sunrise 06.27 Sunset 19.47

Thick fog around dawn clearing to another warm sunny day by 10 o’clock.

We didn’t take the dogs out until quite late last night, it was a very hot day. So by the time we walked down the lane the sun was setting and what a lovely sunset it was!

Any way it proved to be a good move as we saw lots of interesting things. Our first sighting were two herons flying down river, I’m not sure if they were having a territory squabble, but there was a bit of noise. Then the Kingfisher flew downriver, always in a hurry, I just wish I was quick enough with my camera. We watched the Chubb from the bridge for a while and we were just going to move off when some Martins came zooming in flying over the surface of the water, catching flies and drinking.

There were a family of Magpies chattering in the trees and a few Robins shouting their territory, the Blackbirds were doing the same as we walked up the lane. We also heard a Tawny owl in an old Oak tree calling, we hear them quite often at night when we are in bed. I tried to see if I could see him but the hedge is still too thick. Then just near our house we saw Bats zooming around, we usually see them at this time of year, we are not sure where they roost.
