We had to go shopping in Blandford so it was a good opportunity to walk along the river bank with the camera. We can park up in the free car park and walk to the town taking a detour along the river. We didn’t have a lot of time but today we were lucky. As soon as I got towards the river I saw a collection of very big lenses, a sure sign of an Otter siting so I headed in the general direction, which was under the weir.

It didn’t take me too long to spot the Otter fishing alongside the reed island just below the weir. She was very busy and didn’t keep still for very long. I was concerned that her kits were not there but I asked one of the photographers who told me they were there earlier but got spooked and went back to their holt. She fished for some time and then slowly made her way back to the big island and her young.
