Monday 29th February

A very cold morning when I took Kim out down to Bere Marsh. The temperature was -3C, I’m getting out a little earlier now with the light. As always if we are early enough we may be lucky to see the Barn Owl and even it’s mate. I decided to take my camera with my 100-400mm lens as it was bright, it’s still quite tricky lighting with the long lens at that time, but I thought I would give it a try.

I spotted an Owl as we were walking towards Bere Marsh Farm, not close enough to take a picture but lovely to see. When we got to the Barn he was quartering the field and  turned towards me, it was then I took a chance. I used a shutter speed of 1/200sec I couldn’t get much higher with the ISO up to 1600 but I’m pleased with what I got, the Canon 7D mark 11 with the 100-400mm IS 11 lens is a great combination.
