Friday 1st April

I have not been writing on my Diary pages for a little while, we lost our little dog Lucy earlier in the month it was very sad, she was a special dog. I am still missing her now but it won’t bring her back. She was a happy little dog until the last couple of days of her life, something to be thankful for and we have lots of memories and pictures of her.

I will now move on as spring is in the air and there is lots to enjoy and see at this time of the year. We have managed to keep our Hedgehog, or maybe two over winter I notice a few slugs about in the garden already so hopefully they will thrive this year and maybe we will have some babies around!

We still see the Barn Owl at Bere Marsh at times and the Heronry is now very busy with Herons and Little Egrets, I hope to get some pictures soon. The Skylarks have been singing at New Cross such a wonderful sound I have also been lucky enough to spot them in the air, quite difficult on a sunny morning. The Roe deer are often grazing in the fields.

Of course the birds are active finding places for nests I just hope it warms up a little soon and really get into spring!
