Two posts in one day and for very good reason!
We decided to take the dogs out later and go towards the river in hope of seeing the Barn Owl come out at dusk, so we left home at around 8.00pm. We were just coming out of the spinney when I noticed a Fox disappear into the small woodland. Not thinking any more of it when we got to the point where it went into the woods Lucy took off only she went the wrong way back across the field to where it had came from, which was lucky as she may have disappeared for a long time! We caught up with her at the bridge, Kim had trundled after her but didn’t know what she was meant to be chasing!
We crossed over the bridge and a deer was crossing the field, we had the dogs on leads by then! Then I heard two mice squabbling in the grass and all I could see was a trail of moving grass!
Any way we went over to Bere Marsh and didn’t see anything but as we were crossing back Rod spotted the Barn owl flying in the next field to us. I had my camera ready and at a high ISO as the light was already failing it was getting towards sunset. Any way I took a few pictures and then he headed straight towards us, I couldn’t get the camera to focus as there was too much greenery about but he flew across our heads and disappeared towards Millham island. A wonderful sight!
