Today is the ‘longest day’ and the weather has been really warm and dry for sometime now. I haven’t been very active on my diary as I haven’t been near the computer much, we have also been away in Somerset for a week so that is my excuse!
It doesn’t mean that I haven’t seen any wildlife although I find it moredifficult to spot anything in the undergrowth, although the farmers are busy making hay at the moment so the grass in some of the fields has been cut. It makes it easier to walk in as well.
There are a family of foxes quite close to home and sometimes one passes by the bottom of the garden. I also spotted a small cub by Hayward’s bridge about to cross the road I’m hoping that he got across OK I haven’t seen a body.
I went for a walk on Thursday afternoon to take some pictures with my infrared camera I was just coming out of the spinney and I nearly jumped out of my skin there was the biggest Grass snake I had ever seen, he was at least 21/2 feet long and he had his head down a mouse hole so he just stayed there. I managed to get a photo with infrared camera and left him there, he was gone when I returned about an hour later.

The Kingfisher has been active up and down the river, I either saw two this morning or it was the same one going up and down! Now the river is at a summer level and clearing I can see we still have some large Chubb near the bridge.
