The hot weather is continuing with a thunderstorm last night and more forecast for tonight. Some welcome rain at least. There is plenty of wildlife action although most of it is at the beginning and end of the day, like us most of the wildlife keeps out of the heat of the day although, the Damsel flies, Dragonflies and butterflies are enjoying this weather. Just walking down the lane I have seen a number of species of Butterfly such as:
- Small Tortishell
- Meadow Brown
- Gatekeeper
- Skipper
- Speckled Wood
- Peacock
- Comma
- Large white
- Red Admiral
To name a few!
The river is running well and has cleared enough to be able to watch the Chubb from the bridge, there are still plenty of good sized ones around which is pleasing.

When I go for a walk most days I see a Kingfisher, they are still very active on the corner of the river. We have also spotted the Barn owls, I watched two last evening coming out from the barn. I tried to take a picture but the re was not enough light, as far as we know there are two adults and three youngsters, I hope the three of them make it to adulthood. On the way back I heard a Moorhen making a noise in the spinney I stayed and watched for a while and sure enough an Otter swam past, the first I have seen for some time. I was really excited to see it!
