There was a promise of better weather at the end of the month but I woke up to thick fog on a couple of mornings. On the first morning I headed towards Hambledon Hill but soon realised it was as thick towards the top as well as in the valley so I took a circular walk back to home without going up the hill.
The next day was the same so I headed towards Bere Marsh hoping the path across was passable at last, there just one puddle to negotiate which I managed to get through; I had been unable to get over there for a little while with all the rain we’ve had.
I couldn’t resist a fluffed up Robin in the hedge as I walked along the Trailway, there weren’t too many birds about as it was still quite dark.

I headed up towards New Cross and it was still foggy as I got to the top of the hill. I saw a Heron coming away from the Heronry and heard a few others chattering in the trees busy getting ready for nesting.
As I made my way back, I heard, before I saw a Song Thrush in a tree, they have a lovely song to start the morning, you can also hear a Woodpecker in the background of the audio, there are plenty around the village!

A rather wet Grey Squirrel in the fog!
